Kids in the Kitchen is a national Junior League initiative aimed at empowering children to adopt healthy habits in an attempt to reverse the growth of childhood obesity. Local leagues educate at a grassroots level by providing information, materials, and interactive lessons related to healthy eating and nutrition to kids and parents in their communities.
In the past, the JLEFC has had renowned chef Michel Nischan of Dressing Room restaurant in Westport do a cooking demonstration and holistic health counselor, Rachel Leslie, teach healthy eating habits to a local Girl Scout troop in Bridgeport. In the process, we have tried to make the process fun and engaging for the kids to build a foundation for a healthy future.
We look forward to participating in the Kids in the Kitchen program again this year.
